If you are following me on Instagram, you probably already know that our family has grown, with a little brother quite precisely 15 days ago. In some ways these last 15 days have been very challenging and felt like at least a year and in some ways it has gone by so fast. At the same time, as always with children, once they enter your world it is like they have always been there. The life “before” becomes blurry and dreamlike and the new reality simply replaces the old one in some strange way. Somehow you cannot imagine how life would be without these bundles of joy. But let us take it from the beginning…
On the 30th December 2015 we checked in at the hospital for delivery! I felt huge and judging by the above picture, I was huge too.
Since this was a planned C-section pain during/before birth was not really an issue other than the anesthesiologist trying to get a giant needle into my wrist. That hurt like hell (worse than the contractions during labor last time), and she tried 3 times before moving up the arm and switching to a thinner needle. After that the rest of the birthing went like a charm and around 10am we became parents for the second time!
Here, tired and happy celebrating new years eve with water at Manly Maternity Ward and watching the Sydney City fireworks from the balcony. Sweet sweet Manly life. Also a big thanks to everyone at the hospital, Manly Hospital has the best staff!
Now that we are a family of 4 instead of 3 it all comes with a bunch of new challenges. But also so much more joy and love and fun as well! It will be very exciting to see how traveling as a family of 4, around the world, will work out. But in the meantime I will continue enjoying Aussie summer and getting to know our newest little family member 🙂
